Training in parks
Hello friends,
First of all a quick reminder that the James Bay Centre is closed this Tuesday, June 11th, so the usual taiji class there is skipping a week.
But this means it’s also time to make concrete plans for some outdoor classes. Here’s how I plan to do them:
Stick to 10:15-11:15am on Tuesdays, because consistency is helpful.
Meet in a park in James Bay, I’ll send specific info to the individuals who are interested.
Skip a week if the weather is bad. I will email the people who have expressed an interest at lunchtime the day before to confirm whether or not the class is happening.
I will ask participants to confirm if they’re coming. Because these sessions aren’t open for new people to drop in, if none of the regulars are coming I’ll stay closer to home myself.
If you are interested and haven’t already had an individual email from me, just reply to this one and I’ll include you in the Monday confirmation emails. And if you’d rather wait until the James Bay Centre is back in session, I will probably be back at the same time there in September.
Here is the schedule I have in mind for the next few months:
This Tuesday, June 11th: hoping to do an outdoor class but the weather forecast is not optimistic. I’ll make a decision tomorrow.
Tuesday June 18th: the last James Bay Centre class of the session.
Tuesday June 25th: outdoor class, weather permitting.
July: month long break for some travel.
August: outdoor classes most Tuesdays, but I’ll confirm the exact schedule towards the end of July.
September: next James Bay Centre session starts.
I also have some other exciting news to share: Sam Masich, a greatly respected teacher from Lake Cowichan, is coming to town to teach a weekend workshop in Esquimalt Gorge Park on June 22nd & 23rd. This will be my first time meeting Sam in person, but I already know he has a great depth of knowledge from his book, newsletter, and reputation. There’s also something really special about spending a couple of days immersed in practice.
I am not the organiser for that workshop, I’m just spreading word. If you’re interested in joining it please contact the host, Gabriel Shaw.
