It's bear week!
Hello friends,
When I scheduled the bear workshop for tomorrow, I knew that I was picking an auspicious week based on a couple of things: the equinox was yesterday, and it’s Rosh Hashana right now. The bear feels right for the equinox, and I liked the idea of starting this new series at the same time as the new year.
But there’s a connection I had forgotten to check for, and luckily hit anyway: it’s Fat Bear Week! In the original announcement about this workshop I wrote about how bears take their worry about the impending winter and use it to do something positive by preparing for hibernation. That is exactly what Fat Bear Week celebrates: the bears of Katmai National Park eating all the fish they can to get ready for winter.
I can’t offer you a river full of salmon. But I can offer you some movement exercises that help me feel good about the changing of the seasons. And speaking of the seasons, I’ve committed to doing this one indoors, because it is starting to get too cold by 7pm to be keeping people outside.
There’s still space in tomorrow’s workshop, so you can still register online. And my website has dates and information for the next few Five Animal Frolics workshops, and the ongoing Chen taiji classes.
Hope to see you tomorrow!
