the second half of 2023
Hello.
In which I share further adventures in cleaning out memos from my phone...
July 21, 2023
A ringing bell
and cicadas quiet
shoe heels on concrete
Strange itches on skin
throughout body
July 29, 2023
Storm flows over ocean
lightning branches horizontal
cloud to cloud
Deep rain in sheets
seven ducks swim
through rain on pond
A double rainbow
blue radiance through
thinning clouds
Trees silhouette
herons fly
frogs sing phased patterns
a spider weaves its web anew
September 1, 2023
The delay between breath blown and hair moved
How cicadas fade in and out of their song
The way small birds move their heads
- too fast to perceive the fluid motion
September 11, 2023
In between periods of rain
crickets
Night, like the day that preceded it, is damp
fabric moist to touch
A moth flies along the ceiling
Chewing dead skin from cuticle
September 15, 2023
Thumb skin cut by cardboard box
open windows
crickets
radio
rubbing eyes
whiskey
September 24, 2023
Midnight -
Reading a cyclic and porous book
music on the radio
breeze through open windows
Moment of disbelief
geese sounding their way
through night sky
October 25, 2023
Skin erupts in a series of ingrown hairs
coiled within red marks
itches, dry skin flakes white, triangular scales
Brown growths rise up from skin
bleed quick under exploratory scratchings
November 7, 2023
In the alley
seedheads of tall grass sway
at the edge of lamp light
Leaves fall intermittent
A flap of ribbon shines fluttering
wrapped around power line
The tall tree a dark black against light black sky
November 13 - December 7, 2023
Fall reveals trees in their raw architecture
Mark the turning of season by -
the width of the squirrels
the futility of blowing leaves with machines
the rot of ginkgo
Hang lights in trees
to celebrate
the shortness of day
and the length of night
