issue 23: future perfect

Hello and welcome back. This is Issue 23 of “a bit of bird words” and we are hopefully leaving the hottest days of the year behind us. As I said last time, stay cool and wear your sunscreen.

What did I do this month?

Since my gym decided to increase their prices by about 1000kr this year, I’ve swapped out gym time with Fitness Boxing feat. Hatsune Miku. I was not prepared for how hard it could be, but I really enjoy it even when I’m struggling to remember the footwork.

This month was a bit of a mad dash to finish things before the new Star Fox dropped, so I actually finished quite a few games this month. The two notable ones are Pikmin and Final Fantasy X-2. This was my first time playing Pikmin and it’s astonishing how quickly I got attached to the Pikmin. They were my boys, my little guys, my big dumb idiots who don’t know how to walk around a corner and can annihilate anything I throw them at. Fantastic game, really recommend.

Final Fantasy X-2 was a co-op joint with my partner and good grief do I love this era of Square/Square-Enix. I loved the banter between the girls, loved the music, loved how frenetic everything was. Yuna might be my favorite FF protagonist, honestly. I’m glad I finally played this game.

What else?

I don’t remember too terribly much about the month unfortunately. My journaling habit has broken down pretty severely, and I feel so drained by even the thought of work that it’s hard to build that discipline back up. Instead I have things I’m looking forward to in the coming months: five years in Europe, summer vacation, eight years together, The Mountain Goats live.

Thinking about the future makes me excited, and knowing that I feel that way also makes me glad. I want to look forward to more things.

No more recommendations, but if you have something you would recommend to me, send it my way.

See you next month.

If you made it this far, sincerely, thank you. If you’d like to read more, check out the archives, my website, my blog, or my other website. Or hit reply and let’s chat!
