issue 16: ups and down
Hello and welcome back. This is Issue 16 of “a bit of bird words” and I’m watching the end of Chrono Cross as I write this. What a bizarre game. There’s something really magical about the games Square published in the 90s and early 2000s.
What did I do this month?
Honestly, not much. It was a real struggle of a month mentally, even though it all turned out okay in the end. But I didn’t read or play much of anything as a result. I’m still chipping away at Silksong very slowly and enjoying it though!
Kirby Air Riders came out this month, and it was everything I could have hoped for from a new Kirby Air Ride game. I’m really glad they kept in the Dragoon and Hydra; collecting the parts for those rides in City Trial was always my favorite part of that mode.
Funnily enough I don’t think I read anything at all this month! I’ve gotten a handful of recommendations though, so I might suspend my usual fiction-nonfiction trade-off thing again just to get back in the rhythm of reading.
What else?
I got my job back! (This was an absolute roller-coaster.)
I’ve been plugging away at a few more things on my website, which is nice! I really do love working on it and adding things to it.
I’ve also been watching a lot of Dimension 20, specifically The Unsleeping City, and having a blast listening to it. I especially really enjoy the kinds of characters Emily makes and how she plays them, and how everyone helps each other out at the table with their spells and skills.
I think the next month is going to be a challenging one, though I always look forward to some New Year’s fondue with my partner. My recommendation for the month, then, is to take it as easy as you can. Let’s end the year gently. See you next month.
