💎 The Netflix of Mac Apps
I love curation! ❤️
With the amount of content being created every day, there's not enough time to check out everything. The same goes for Mac apps as well. There are a lot of elegant and useful apps out there but their discovery is a problem for me. That's where Setapp comes into picture. It provides you 100+ curated apps, which cover a variety of domains. Here are some of them:
Must Haves
- Bartender - If you have a lot of menu bar icons, this is a savior! It collapses your icons, visible only when there is an update.
- Better Touch Tool - Swipe with two fingers on the Touch Bar to control volume. Did that catch your attention? BTT allows you to fully customize your input devices.
- Downie - A powerful video downloader. There was a video on Facebook which I wanted to download for a long time now, and this app made it possible in seconds!
- iStat Menus - I like having the network speed in my menu bar. 🤷♂️
- Paste - Unlimited clipboard history, allows you to copy images, preserves formatting, this is a must-have app.
Good to Haves
- CleanMyMac X - does what it says, no fluff.
- HazeOver - Highlights the current window, or rather dims out everything else. The app I never knew I needed.
- Noizio - Generates ambient sound, great for focus. Put on the "Coffee House" sound and it feels like you're working in Starbucks!
- Paw - Nice API Testing Tool
- ToothFairy - Connect to your bluetooth device in 1-click. Think of the possibilities of what you can do with the saved time! 😝
- Wallpaper Wizard - Provides many collections of elegant wallpapers which can be rotated at a set frequency.
- Yoink - Provides you with a temporary location for your dragged files; quite a clever one.
Saved for Later
- Boom 3D - Promises to turn up the sound notch to 11.
- Diarly - Seems like a good journaling solution, but I am already a paid user of DayOne so passing for now.
- Endurance - Claims to extend battery life by 20%.
- Rocket Typist - Touch Typing, anyone?
- Ulysses - Waiting for NaNoWriMo to use this!
I'm still searching for a replacement to Apple's default mail client. If you are happy with your current client, please let me know by replying to this mail. 😇
P.S. I bought the subscription for Paste and BTT, and wanted to try out all the other offerings. That's how this post came about! I'm not sure whether the subscription will still be lucrative to me a few months from now, but I'm counting on Setapp to keep bringing more awesome apps to its platform.
Until We Meet Again...
