Nothing is More Expensive than Free
Library Champion,
One of our biggest bragging points is that we offer free books, be it print or digital (eBooks). More importantly, YOU make that happen. But have you ever wondered how libraries obtain eBooks?
Libraries do not own eBooks, they purchase them. When a library purchases a print book, they own it forever. When a library purchases an eBook/eAudio title, they often possess it for a limited time. It's a small, subtle distinction that is rather enormous moneywise. Supporting the library today ensures that this incredible resource remains free to all.
Digital books usually cost over $100 (!!!) and we don't even end up owning them! They are available for purchase in usually one of two ways: for unlimited checkouts over the course of a year or two, or up to a certain number of checkouts. Once one of those criteria are met, the library loses access the book and is faced with the decision of having to buy it again or not. Your support guarantees your community can read in any way at any time!
With over 20,000 titles to choose from, take books with you on the go! Read or listen to downloadable books, from bestsellers to business, mystery to history, romance to politics and much more by using OverDrive/Libby. Our new service RB Digital gives you access to thousands of eAudio books that you can listen to. Best part of RB Digital: NO WAIT LISTS! You can support your local library today and give your community the tools it needs to be lifelong learners.
Your library misses you. We wish you and your family health and wellbeing during these (and all) times.
Vince
P.S.- You don't need to make an account or jump through any hoops to be a library champion. I wouldn't say this if it wasn't true. You can make this happen in less than a minute. Just click here.
