When my father was growing up and would move to a new town, the first thing he would do is find the nearest library and get a library card. One of the many things he taught me was how to save money and find ways to cut costs. A free library card with the Juniata County Library is your ticket to saving money!
Any Pennsylvania resident, from Juniata county or any of the other 66 counties, can get a Juniata County library card for free.
Here are 12 ways you can save money and cut costs with your free Juniata County Library card:
Borrow books from us: we carry over 50,000 physical items in our collection, with new items purchased each week. We have something for everyone at every age! If we donβt have it, ask us and we will look to buy it. Visit our website to search our catalog.
Borrow DVDs: monthly video streaming subscriptions continue to become more and more expensive. Save money and borrow from the library movies, TV shows, documentaries and more on DVD.
Borrow digital books: don't pay for a subscription to listen to or read digital books; get them for free from the library! Download from the app store on your phone, tablet, or computer the app Libby and use your library card to choose from over 20,000 free digital books!
Borrow magazines and read newspapers: skip the expensive annual fees and borrow magazines from the library as well as read newspapers while you visit us! We carry over 40 magazine subscriptions as well as all the local newspapers.

Borrow music CDs: donβt pay for music streaming services; get your music for free at the library! We have tons of music CDs that cover all the genres and regularly buy new ones.
Free Wi-Fi while you visit the library: need a cool spot to relax and connect to free Wi-Fi? Stop in and find the network named βJuniata Library Wi-Fi.β No password is required.
Borrow a mobile hotspot: do you want to bring the internet with you on your next trip or need faster internet than what is available in your area? The library loans out mobile hotspots that provide a 20 gigabyte per month data limit. Borrow a hotspot for 2 weeks for $10 or 4 weeks for $20.
Make copies: printers and their toner cartridges are expensive and annoying. You can print your documents while at the library, either directly from your phone or on a public computer. It is 25 cents per black and white page or $1 per color page.
Send and receive a fax: need to send or receive a fax? We do both for $1.25 per page.
Use a public computer: need a computer to check your email, type up a document, or send a message to a loved one? We have 8 desktop computers that you can use for 1 hour. If there is not a wait, which there rarely is, you can keep using it for as long as you need!
Shred some documents: need to clear some space and safely get rid of your documents? We shred documents for $20 per box or $1 per pound. Visit our website for all the details.
Notary services: do you need a document notarized? We have a certified notary on staff that can help you out! The different types of notary services cost between $2 and $5. View all the details here on our website.

Book of the week! β if you are going to read one book, give this one a tryβ¦
The Apple Creek Announcement: Volume 3 (Creektown Discoveries series) by Wanda E. Brunstetter (2022) (New adult fiction, Amish fiction, Christian, romance)
Wanda Brunstetter, author of countless Amish fiction books (including a series based on Big Valley in Mifflin county,) gives us the latest book in the Creektown Discoveries series. This book is perfect for those of you looking for a gentle read based in a rural setting.
Brunstetter takes us Apple Creek, Ohio, where a piano teacher has a fascination with painting the rural Amish landscapes around her home. Andrea Wagner has made it to her thirties feeling like she has had a charmed life and finally has fallen in love with Brandon Prentice, a local veterinarian. But then she discovers she was adoptedβand all she thought she knew about herself has crumbled. Andrea becomes so fixated on finding her birth mother that she pushes Brandon away.
A friend suggests Andrea write to the βDear Carolineβ column in the newspaper for romance advice, and she finds herself revealing her issues with being adopted in the letter. βDear Carolineβ receives the letter but struggles to find the right advice given her own conflicted past.
Other books in the series: The Walnut Creek Wish and The Sugarcreek Surprise.
