How long will your donation last?
Library Champion,
This pandemic is forcing many people to think long and hard about their mortality. What if you get COVID-19 and don't survive? Where will your estate and hard-earned assets go? Will your name and values live on?
The library is of the belief that the best short-term plan is a great long-term plan. We think and plan strategically. We evaluate yearly. We listen to understand, and we listen to win! Read our library's strategic plan to see for yourself how to ensure your gift truly matters.
When I speak to major library donors, they often bring up the last question. They want to make a donation to the library that will truly matter and make a difference. Giving to the library does just that.
Every day you probably get junk mail with pleas for your donation. Do any of them tell you how your gift will make a difference both today and in the future? Many causes deposit your check and simply move on. At the library, we put your gift to work and make it last.
A donation to the library can accomplish many things. From simply keeping the lights on or our great staff paid and taken care of, to future planning for building plans and outreach, to ensuring the children in your community grow up literate and educated: the library believes in what you believe.
Any size or type of donation can be made to the library, from listing us in your will to pledging monthly in memory of a loved one to gifting your life insurance premium to the library: we are truly grateful of your gift.
Leaving a legacy is simple. Some options include:
- BEQUESTS: Including your local library in your will or trust is a thoughtful way to benefit future generations. You can specify an amount, percentage or residue from your estate to benefit your library.
- BENEFICIARY DESIGNATIONS: Naming your library as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy, annuity, CD or retirement plan can be an effective way to eliminate estate taxes.
- RETIREMENT PLANS: Donating assets from your 401(k), or other qualified retirement plan to benefit your local library can be a good choice of giving.
- CHARITABLE & LEAD TRUSTS: Establishing trusts that pay yearly income to you or the library may provide estate tax benefits.
- GIFTS OF REAL ESTATE: Donating property to your library may provide immediate tax benefits and eliminate estate taxes. Coin collections, jewelry and art may have donor value and benefit the library.
Today’s gift ensures the future of library services for generations to come.
Your library misses you. We wish you and your family health and wellbeing during these (and all) times.
Vince
P.S.- You don't need to make an account or jump through any hoops to be a library champion. I wouldn't say this if it wasn't true. You can make this happen in less than a minute. Just click here.
