supertag-cli 2.0, Tana's new API, and what's next
Hi everyone,
Three things to share today (and I know, I said this would be a low volume list, but things move a lot faster in Tana land than I expected)
supertag-cli 2.0 is out
The biggest release yet. supertag-cli now integrates directly with Tana's new Local API — the beta that Tana teased in last week's release notes (on Monday) and released last week on Friday. What this means for you:
- Delta-sync: Instead of full exports every time, supertag-cli now picks up only what changed since your last sync. It runs quietly in the background while you work. This enables for example Semantic Search to work until the next full sync happens. Note: There’s currently a bug in the Tana API that causes this to error out.
- Write-back to Tana: 9 new mutation commands let you create nodes, manage tags, set fields, and more — directly from the command line or through AI tools.
- Auto-detection: If Tana Desktop is running, supertag-cli finds the Local API automatically. No configuration needed.
- On Mac OS you can now use brew to install/update the supertag-cli, see the documentation
The query engine, visualisation tools, semantic search, and everything else you already know — all still there, now faster and more connected.
Upgrade: Run the one line install, as described on https://projects.invisible.ch/supertag
Course update coming
The "Bridge Your Tana: Complete" course will get an update to reflect these changes. The analysis, visualisation, and integration modules stay the same — those workflows haven't changed. Expect updated setup instructions and a few new lessons covering the write-back capabilities. For now, I have made the difference visible.
If you already have the course, the update will appear automatically. Speaking of: Due to a configuration error an older version of the course was online the last few days. I have fixed this, and the correct version is online now (and I am working on making this kind of error not happen again in the future). I also discovered problems with the way the integration between LemonSqueezy (payments) and the course-platform worked.
One more thing
I have spent quite some time developing a new course (that’s also the reason I didn’t watch the other course closely)
Your Personal AI — build a personal AI system that knows you, follows your standards, and grows with your life. No coding required. It’s for non-technical people and explains how a Personal AI assistant is built from first principles. It should help you understand what’s happening in todays accelerating AI world:

Maybe you know someone that would benefit an easy, non-technical explanation how an AI “can get to know you” and would be willing to forward this mail? The discount code: E1NDGXMG will give a 25 CHF discount until February 21st.
Best,
Jens-Christian
