Greetings, readers!

No one thought we could do it, but we DID! Yes, we managed to get a fourth comic out this week! Hallelujah!

One of the reasons we started Sunday Comix was to give you the chance to read all of our comics in one place. By posting our comics on social media, we, as artists, run the risk of having loyal readers miss some of our work. Let’s say you’re a regular reader of…oh, I don’t know…Maurice the Beaver, and you realize that Maurice Comics has a storyline that is interesting. But throughout the busyness of the week, you end up not hitting your social media site in the way that you want and you miss a few issues of a storyline. What do you do?

Or even worse, the algorithm doesn’t give you the storyline. This could be a for a wide variety of reasons. One might be that you’re following so many things that it’s just impossible for the algorithm to feed you what you want. Or even worse, maybe the comic isn’t popular enough to get to you in the feed.

This has happened multiple times over the years to many of the artists who post their things to social media. We will work extraordinarily hard on a comic, get it all together, and then stick that sucker up on the internet where…

…nothing will happen. 5 likes. 20 upvotes. Then, it simply disappears.

It’s great when you hit those highs of massive amounts of upvotes. Seeing a ton of comments on your comic or receiving these notifications makes you feel good. We are human, after all, and we put our comics out there for people to see them, not because we’re hoping to toil in obscurity for the rest of our lives. We want our comics to reach people. So, when something goes wrong or we become victims of the corporate whims of companies that are desperate to make a profit for shareholders, our work gets shuffled to the bottom of the pile.

Many was the time when I got a comment on one of my comics that said, “Love your work! Haven’t seen you in a while!” when in reality I have been posting regularly. That’s the algorithm and that’s the problem with being beholden to these free platforms.

This is why this week we are introducing Sunday Comix Super Specials. When we started Sunday Comix, our goal was to get our work in your hands directly, so that you could read the adventures that we produce without any interference. We plan to take that one step further.

With Sunday Comix Super Specials, we plan to bring you a little bonus from our artists. In each issue, we’ll bring you an entire storyline from one of our comics, plus a few bonus features that will make everything fun and give our artists a chance to shine a spotlight on things that you may not know about them or things that they might have to offer to you.

Our first Sunday Comix Super Special will feature Maurice the Beaver, of course, and more will follow after that, where you’ll get to catch up on comics that you might have missed from some of your favorite artists.

With this expansion, we plan to go even further with Sunday Comix, which means that you’ll be getting an issue each week! We’ve got that and a LOT MORE planned for you over these next few months, so we hope you’re ready to get your comics fix on Sundays, because that’s where we are headed!

As always, if you have any questions or requests, feel free to respond to this email or add a comment below.
