Hi there,
Just a quick one from me today.
Enjoy this vintage Neil Gaiman-Douglas Adams interview! It popped up on Twitter thanks to a fan account, which I can’t now find, sadly.
In this magazine article, Neil Gaiman interviews Douglas Adams just after he finished writing So Long And Thanks For All The Fish (the second Hitchhiker’s book I read, the first being The Restaurant At The End of The Universe - yes, I was confused. My own fault for raiding my brother’s shelves while he was out…!), so 1983 or 84, I think.
It’s a really nice interview with the late author, who died aged only 49 in 2001.
Everything about it - including the medium - is so analogue.
Links of the week
My friend Stephanie Sy-Quia is having her first book of poems published by Granta! Here’s an extract from Amnion
I found this podcast through judging for The Webby Awards this week, and I immediately, then downloaded all the episodes.
It’s 1990. The Berlin Wall just fell. The Soviet Union is on the verge of collapse. And the soundtrack to the revolution is one of the best selling songs of all time, the metal ballad “Wind of Change,” by the Scorpions.
Decades later, journalist Patrick Radden Keefe heard a rumor: the song wasn’t written by the Scorpions. It was written by the CIA. This is his journey to find the truth. Wind of Change is an Original Series from Pineapple Street Studios, Crooked Media and Spotify.
It’s like they took the classic Reply All episode, ‘The Case of the Missing Hit’, and blew it up on a global scale. Can’t wait to listen to it all!
It is understandable to me that my life, such as it is right now, is horrifying, that it might not be something anyone might want to look directly at, let alone try to fathom, but I do not want to be confined to the unreal land of the ‘unimaginable.’ I am already so acutely aware of being alone. To be ‘unimaginable’ too seems like another layer of loneliness that I do not want to bear.

I wrote a piece for this new journal:
Thank you so much for reading all the way to the end! I really appreciate you taking the time to do that :)
If you enjoy my work & fancy buying me a virtual coffee, I’d be delighted (and will hopefully experience a virtual caffeine rush):
