Studio Espresso Weekly - 03/04🥁
Hey everyone! This newsletter got a bit delayed, as work and life got a bit much the past month and I didn’t want to add to it by forcing myself to get a newsletter out.
House/moving-wise we have just under 4 weeks left until I have to be out of my apartment and we just finished the last weekend of painting. Not that everything is painted yet but we want to spend the remaining time of getting every space ready/empty/clean so we can start moving stuff in by mid April.
So I’m spending this Sunday watching Ronde Van Vlaanderen and packing up most plates, pots, cups, books, winter clothes, …

BRM 200
The first Sunday of March, I rode the BRM200, organised by Randonneurs Leuven: a 200km loop starting and finishing in Leuven. I was pretty apprehensive to start because I hadn’t riding anything longer than 30km since September ‘22. And to add to that, I planned on riding it on my new bike (on which I had only done about 60km in total up to that point).
Not a recipe for success, but my companion for the ride was 🙂. Davy rode a similar 200km ride in 2021 and he “forced” me to start at a very conservative pace. The first 60km were on roads that I know very well and that I ride often and if I had been by myself I would have gone much faster, but I would have also used up lots of energy.
We have a first proper stop at the 100km checkpoint, where had a proper lunch and warmed up a bit inside. It was 3 to 6 degrees °C most of the day, with cold winds and a bunch of rain an hail in the last 2 hours, but all in all the weather wasn’t that bad.
We made it back to Leuven after 11 hours and 34 minutes (of which there was 9 hours and 22 minutes of riding time). I’m really happy I started and that I didn’t let the stress of my preparation not being perfect stop me. Such a big day out is always big test for the bike and gear as well and it all performed perfectly.
That’s all for this week everyone. I’ll try to get another newsletter out mid-april. Hope you have a good Monday, talk to you soon 👋
