Why can't we get the jerseys right?!
Also a salute to Cute Hawk
First of all, what a relief yesterday. I’m proud of everyone who turned out to vote! Let’s keep fighting for reproductive rights!
And now, the newsletter, after a few weeks of delays (I moved cross-country).

Even as the relative uncertainty of an NCAA punishment grips the future of the program—both Bill Self and Kurtis Townsend were held off the road during a vital recruiting period, as a precaution—there’s something we can always count on. And that is… our jerseys will be bad.
At this point, it feels intentional. The fans have voiced which jerseys they like, and that we unequivocally despise the Trajan font. None of this feedback seems to matter at all, as Big Trajan has won once again, despite the fact that KU’s 125-year logo uses circus font! That gray jersey pictured uses circus font… I guess?
When I was at KU, the university underwent an expensive rebrand, one that brought Trajan into the picture. Hilariously, this exercise ended up in a lawsuit, where Kutztown University, a 9800-person school in Pennsylvania, alleged (possibly correctly!) that KU had ripped off their logo. (It’s pretty similar, LOL). The fact that the Trajan-wave has continued for almost two decades is verging on parody at this point. KU should have good jerseys, and has a humongous vault of classic looks to pull from. And yet they never do it! Although I’m relieved to hear the red set is back in the mix.

Circus font “maybe in two years.” The wait is agony.
Let’s give it up for cute Hawk
Football is going with the Warhawk full-time, as KU Shams reported up top. With respect to the veterans honored by the war-time-designed Jayhawk, I am tired of the Warhawk. The Warhawk has appeared on a lot of gear lately, and I am not loving the vibe. He’s so angry! So bellicose! It feels tonally off right now!
So, let’s salute cute hawk, who is having its own moment right now. Cute hawk is … so cute. We need more cute!
Shirts update
For those who ordered shirts… they are coming! There’s been some delays, first from the warehouse who supplied the blanks and then from the printing process, owing to crazy heat waves in the Northwest that have prevented the screener from safely using his machines. It’s going to be worth the wait, and I thank you for your patience!
The printer, Jacob, has been sharing some of the behind-the-scenes on his Instagram story, and it’s really cool to see the shirts come to life. Toss him a follow if you’d like to get a glimpse of the process, which I think is… extremely sick.
