RUN. IT. BACK.

Earlier this week, I drafted a post outlining the reasons I thought Jalen Wilson should stick in the Draft process. When I woke up the next morning, I thought better of it—after all, the heart wants what the heart wants, and it’s Jayhawk basketball. Heart over mind ALL DAY.

I did not smash publish, and I am glad I didn’t because…

Wilson played really well at the G-League Elite combine, earning a call-up to the NBA camp. He made plays, rebounded and he made shots, a surprising development on the heels of his somewhat-icy shooting performance throughout the NCAA tournament. Per KU Shams, Wilson worked out with the Milwaukee Bucks this week; if Wilson were to secure anything resembling a handshake from an org like the Bucks, who have reliably developed wings out of the G-League, it would be a pretty good outcome for Jalen.

However, Wilson still has ground to gain at KU, and it’s an exciting that he realized that. Here’s a first stab at next year’s lineup:

PG Harris
SG Dick
SF McCullar
PF Wilson
C Clemence

Of course, there will be some variation here, and I bet KJ Adams and Zuby Ejiofor factor into the early phase of KU’s schedule. That starting lineup looks light on shooting, and that’s where Wilson’s impact could really escalate. If Wilson can get into the high-30s from three, that will unlock a lot of the floor, while also building on Wilson’s momentum as a pro prospect. In that scenario… everyone wins! Wilson returning to Kansas is a big deal.

If you haven’t already, smash the follow on Peter Danyliv’s Instagram. As of late, it’s been non-stop Clemence action, where the young center is absolutely throwing down, barreling to the rim like a bat out of hell (RIP Loaf!). Most KU players make their way through Peter’s lab, and if you’re craving some offseason KU hoops content, Peter has got you covered.

In conclusion….. LET’S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

In DOUBLE conclusion, I want to thank everyone that ordered shirts. The response was overwhelming and touching… THANK YOU! We’re getting them made now, and I can’t wait to get them to you!
