I was skeptical of a deep postseason run until I saw THIS PICTURE

It’s the Monday after Selection Sunday, and KU’s bracket, whew, well… we’ll get to that in a minute.

All season, there’s been a fan narrative—that Remy Martin should be playing more1—that found resistance with insiders and those covering the team. Remy isn’t good enough at defense, and makes too many mistakes in the set offense. According to those in-the-know, Martin wasn’t going to just swoop in and pull KU out of its occasional offensive funk, as much as they’d love for that to happen.

However, this weekend’s Big 12 Tournament title may have merged those timelines, Spidey-style; look!

Kansas' Remy Martin played in 45 minutes over the Jayhawks' last two Big 12 Tournament games and had 22 points, seven boards, seven assists, three steals and no turnovers. Up until that point, he hadn't played 15 or more minutes in a game since late January.

And then, this picture. This picture!!!! All season, I’ve been skeptical that this team could deliver a deep run. But now I’m seeing things differently, and that has nothing to do with our vastly improved title odds or the fact that the team Jayhawk fans are most worried about is Iowa (Iowa!) in a tournament where the Midwest is the weakest region according to KenPom. It has to do with this picture.

A longer post is coming Thursday. We play the last game that day, 9:57 PM ET. Rock Chalk.
