Under My Skin
Hello Friends,
I don’t have a Balatro problem :)
I did get food poisoning last week, which was fun. I also managed to do some digging my yard for what will eventually become a garden bed once we’re clear of potential frosts.
I had a second session of Overlight where we continued to try and free a noble banyari (think an ent-like walking hive of plants and animals). My friend is doing a great job in the role of DM, but I’m finding the dice rolls unsatisfying. You end up rolling seven dice for any skill check, but only results of a six or higher count as a success. And you need at minimum two successes to do anything. It feels like a lot of spectacle for a small result.

📖 Some wikipedia tidbits this week:
Presidencies and provinces of British India - hm . . . can’t recall how I stumbled on this one.
Charles Maurice de Talleyrand Périgord - This one I do remember - someone called me a “veritable Talleyrand” at work. He’s an interesting historical figure to consider because he’s either a gifted diplomat or a traitor.

d10 | What’s your first clue you had one? | What does it look like? | What will happen if you don’t get it removed? |
---|---|---|---|
1 | An uncomfortable tremble in your right leg. | A skinny, 5 inch long black worm with six segmented legs. | Your insides liquify and pour out of your orifices. |
2 | Reflective surfaces blacken when you get close to them. | A pulsing mound on your back, only visible in your shadow’s silhouette. | Your brain is replaced by an increasingly sophisticated intelligence committed to getting your blood on as many people as possible to gather more hosts. |
3 | Your skin rashes and blisters when you touch metal. | A barely noticeable off-color to your blood and saliva. Specialized magnification would reveal countless glowing, half-moon shaped larvae. | Sweaty, feverish ecstasy followed by catatonia and then death. |
4 | Occasional bouts of extreme nausea, sometimes with vomiting. | An amorphous tick, visible in your exhales, which can be seen regardless of temperature. | Increasing susceptibility to possession. Absent an actual possession, your body will create something to possess you. |
5 | You saw something move under your skin. | A dark spot, like a birthmark, on your neck. | Increasingly erratic, compulsive behavior, usually confusing food with other substances. |
6 | A fractal series of curling shapes obscures your vision. The fractals get clearer each day. | A key with teeth slowly munching its way towards your heart. | Painful cracking of the skin, starting at your fingertips and working your way up your arms. After the first couple days, holding anything becomes an exercise in torture. After 10 days, your entire body is covered. |
7 | Light brighter than a dim candle hurts your eyes like searing fire. | A gelatinous mound of eyes rolling around your intestines. | All the symptoms of hypothermia, regardless of environment. |
8 | You’re getting hoarse and your throat feels raw. | A powdery mildew that can gather itself together and slowly move around your insides. | Your bodily fluids become a potent ingredient with esoteric properties. You’re plagued by constant visual and auditory hallucinations. |
9 | You hear everything people say in reverse. | Blue lesions lining your lungs. | Loss of your limbs, starting with your legs. |
10 | Red eyes and a runny nose. | A four-legged crab thing, too small to be seen by the naked eye. Its back and legs are covered in jagged protrusions. | Your skin sloughs off into sentient pests the size of mouse. They can’t infect anything, but they are a nuisance. |

Thanks
Have fun. Be weird.
