I answered many questions about my hot sauce play in my latest blog post, but one of my own questions still has no answer I find truly satisfying: why is it that, when my genitals are slathered in Tabasco or something worse, I often also feel searing heat in my soles? It seems like it must be a type of referred pain, but there are too few answers about the mechanisms behind referred pain in general!

That blog post also tells the story of when I discovered a minor risk of putting hot sauce in my bladder, and then later found the case studies that explain what was going on. I do love my perverted version of Citizen Science, even if that time it hurt! I’ll hold out hope for learning more about referred pain firsthand.
