Stinging nettle season is wrapping up

We're coming to the end of prime nettle season, and I've made a few different videos with them this year. If any of them have inspired you with your own ideas and you'd like a custom video, let's make plans soon, before the sting becomes less potent!

A twitter friend who's a pro domme reached out to me recently with questions about nettle play, and I thought I'd share some of the information from that conversation with you. I do have a blog post which discusses nettle play, but she was more interested in hearing about what aftercare, if any, I thought was necessary.

Nettles do cause a rash (called urticaria, from the genus name urtica) but in my experience it fades quickly over a day or two and doesn't need much care. (Everyone's skin is different, though, so it's worth doing a test on a small patch of skin before you go wild with them!) The skin is pierced by those stinging hairs, so I treat it like I would any area of slightly broken skin: I make sure to keep it clean, and I keep the skin moisturized with simple products that I know I don't react to. This isn't the time to try out a new lotion, but a bit of vaseline might be good. I have a body oil I like which is usually what I reach for to keep my skin hydrated and healing quickly. The side note I mentioned to my friend related to keeping the area clean is just a comfort tip- because there's histamine involved, hot water will make the pain temporarily worse! That might be a fun thing to play with, but it also might not be what you want when aftercare is the goal.
