Day Fourteen: Falling.

We fall in love.
And we fall into depression.

Same language. Fall. As if there’s no choice in the matter. As if gravity has its own way with us.

Here’s the thing though: both require trust.

Love asks you to risk yourself for someone else. To drop your guard. Surrender control. And, let another human matter more than your own comfort.

Depression? It asks for the same surrender. But, with no one there to catch you. You hand yourself over to the dark. Not because you want to. But, because something inside you convinces you it’s safer not to feel at all.

Falling in love, you lose yourself in another. Falling into depression, you lose yourself altogether.

Both begin with letting go.
But only one gives you something back.

And it’s wild how we talk about one like magic and the other like a malfunction. As if love is divine, but depression is some shameful thing.

The truth is, both show us we’re human. Both remind us we’re not built to live entirely on our own terms. We need something and someone to hold on to.

Love feels like flying. Depression feels like drowning. And, when you're in either, it’s almost impossible to remember which way is up.

So if you’re in love, don’t take it for granted.
If you’re in depression, don’t think it defines you.

Both are real.
Both are powerful.
And neither one gets the final word.

Mantra \ Prayer:

Falling leads to rising again. And, again.
