Turn and Face the Strange
Thank you for subscribing to Steeven Says Stuff, the newsletter dedicated to providing you with all the updates about me: Steeven R. Orr.
I’m a podcaster. I co-host The Superman Super Show with Ed Moore and I host Hither Came Conan, Growing Up Geek, The Comic Book Show, and so many more.
I’m also a husband, a father, a recluse, a writer, a neurodivergent, an introvert, a nerd, an expert at hyperbolization, and so much more!
Howdy!
This week’s newsletter is below.
THE INTRODUCTION BIT
Hey, folks!
Sorry for the Friday email instead of a Thursday email, but I was sick yesterday.
Anyway, you know what’s interesting?
Lots of things, sure, but I’m thinking of something rather specific, and that’s the title of this week’s email:
Turn and Face the Strange
See, one of the main bits I’ll be talking about this week is that I’m thinking of moving podcasting hosting providers, which would mean a change.
Well, instinctively, I had planned on naming this email:
Ch-Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes!
I’m sure that many of you are aware of the David Bowie song, Changes. So yeah, that’s where the “Ch-Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes” comes from.
If are not aware of the song, well, you are now.
Anyway, I’ve found during my half century on this earth that when someone is writing an article or blog post about something changing, many people use the title Ch-Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes! So I wanted to do something different and pick a different line from the chorus of the same song to use as the title to this email.
However, when I did a Google search for the lyrics to Changes, I came across a rather vigorous debate going on in all corners of the web in regard to those lyrics.
Some say they go like this (I’ll BOLD the line in question):
Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes
(Turn and face the strain)
Ch-ch-changes
(Don't want to be a richer man)
While other say they go line this (again, look for the BOLD):
Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes
(Turn and face the strange)
Ch-ch-changes
(Don't want to be a richer man)
Well, I have to tell you, I spent literally tens of minutes trying to hunt down which line was the correct line.
That’s then I ran into this:
The official lyric video from the official site, and it shows Turn and Face the Strange, so that’s what I went with.
Do you see how much trouble it is to put a newsletter together each week!?
Anyway, as I was saying, I’m thinking of making a switch of podcast hosting services, and we’ll talk about that in a bit, but first:

The Superman Super Show Live Episode 42 has been scheduled for next Sunday, November 2, at 10:00 AM Central/Standard time.
This time around Ed and I will be looking at The The Yellow Plague, the third of four Superman stories in Superman #11 from 1941 and, like last week’s email, here’s a couple of panels from the story to get you all excited and stuff:

As always, you can watch live on YouTube and be a part of the action when you join the live chat and barrage us with questions and comments.
THE TO DO LIST

As you can see, I’ve been super busy with editing episodes for clients, which is great for me, because I need the money, but it also means a delay in episodes for you, which sucks.
But hey, if you know anyone who needs a podcast editor, send them my way: https://edityourpod.com/
THE MAIN BIT - CHANGING LANES
I’m honestly not sure why I made this the Main Bit.
I mean, there’s not much to tell, really.
I am unhappy with my current podcast hosting service and am planning on a switch to another.
This is a long and arduous task that I have set before me, but for you, the listener, you really shouldn’t notice a thing.
I’ve done this before, by the way, once before, so I feel like I know what I’m doing. I’m just not sure yet how it might affect those episodes over on Apple Podcasts for those of you who subscribe to Steeven Orr Else Beyond through Apple Podcasts.
So, yeah. I guess we will see.
UPDATE: As I was writing this, I got some information from my current podcast hosting service that has made me decide to stick with them a bit longer.
Ummm, so this was a pretty useless update.
How about I do a podcast recommendation?
PODCAST RECOMMENDATION

Bear Brook
Bear Brook, hosted by Jason Moon, is the critically-acclaimed true crime podcast from New Hampshire Public Radio. Stephen King called both seasons “the best true crime podcasts I’ve ever heard. Brilliant, involving, hypnotic.” The New Yorker said season one “stands out for its ambition, complexity, and thoughtful tone.”
Season 1 – Two Barrels. Four bodies. And a cold case that’s changing how murders will be investigated forever.
The first season of Bear Brook is truly fascinating. I mean, yes, they found four bodies in two 50 gallon barrels in Bear Brook State Park in New Hampshire.
But here’s the thing, while the two barrels were 300 feet apart in the middle of the New Hampshire wilderness, one barrel was discovered in 1985, but the second barrel and the other two bodies weren’t found until 15 years later in 2000.
Oh, and it took nearly 40 years to bring this Cold Case to a close.
This is a great true crime story.
THE ENDING BIT
That’s all folks, not a lot of big reveals this week, but then again, are there ever?
Before I go, however, here’s quick reminder that donations aren’t just appreciated — they are desperately needed. If you’re able to help, anything is a lifeline.
