Steeven Says Stuff #11 - Wednesdays, Wallets & Wet Dives
Thank you for subscribing to Steeven Says Stuff, the newsletter dedicated to providing you with all the updates about me: Steeven R. Orr.
I’m a podcaster. I co-host The Superman Super Show with Ed Moore and I host Hither Came Conan, Growing Up Geek, The Comic Book Show, and so many more.
I’m also a husband, a father, a recluse, a writer, a neurodivergent, an introvert, a nerd, an expert at hyperbolization, Professional Merman*, and so much more!
Howdy!
This week’s newsletter is below.
THE INTRODUCTION BIT
Heya!
Quick housekeeping: I really want to get this newsletter back to a weekly thing. Lately I’ve been sending these with no set schedule, all willy-nilly, whenever I damn well please, and that’s not ideal.
So, going forward my hope is to get a newsletter into your inbox every Wednesday. I don’t know how long I’ll be able to keep up a perfect weekly cadence, but I’m going to try my absolute best.
Expect Wednesdays. I’ll let you know if anything changes.
THE MAIN BIT
I want to start by apologizing for my recent silence and for not being consistent with my podcast releases. I’ve been quieter than usual because I’ve been dealing with a personal crisis and a depression that’s been made worse by the state of our country.
Now, I don’t want this newsletter to turn into a political screed, but I also don’t want to hide the truth: if you listened to The Superman Super Show: Bonus Episode 4 — We Hate Fascists! then you know where I stand. I oppose Trump, I’m deeply worried about the direction things are heading, and unfortunately, that worry has taken a toll.
On top of that, we are flat broke right now. The family finances should start to look up next month, but at the moment we’re barely scraping by.
So, with that said, a quick reminder that donations aren’t just appreciated — they are desperately needed. If you’re able to help, anything is a lifeline.

On a brighter note — I expect to be back in the studio soon. I’ll be recording new episodes of The Superman Super Show and Hither Came Conan as soon as I can get all my ducks in a row and my mental health is doing a bit better.
Thank you for sticking with me through the pauses. Your patience means more than I can say.
THE PODCAST OF THE WEEK BIT

Digging For Kryptonite
Host Anthony Desiato (My Comic Shop History) takes flight with an ongoing podcast series exploring Superman! Digging for Kryptonite is an examination of Krypton's Last Son across time and media, with deep dives into the creative visions, character elements, eras, and individual stories that have shaped the Man of Steel and the larger DC Universe since 1938. New episodes every Tuesday.
My two cents: Anthony has just started an in-depth look at the John Byrne Era of Superman — the era I grew up with — and even though we covered the Man of Steel six-issue miniseries on The Superman Super Show (episodes 79-54) and I talked about it on the first six episodes of The Comic Book Show, Anthony’s series is shaping up to be far more exhaustive on The Man of Steel and the entire John Byrne Era. If you care about Byrne’s Superman, do yourself a favor and give Digging For Kryptonite a listen.

Digging for Kryptonite: A Supeman Fan Journey
Digging for Kryptonite explores the Man of Steel across time and media, with deep dives into the stories that have shaped Superman for more than 86 years.
THE RELEASE SCHEDULE BIT
Okay, here's the short version: I’m done putting tentative dates in these emails.
The last schedule I shared ended up being all tentative, and I didn’t hit any of those dates, so from now on I will only include THE RELEASE SCHEDULE BIT when something is actually finished and scheduled for release.
If an episode is recorded, mixed, and queued, you’ll see the dates here. If it’s not ready, I’m not going to give you a date that may move.
But don’t worry because I’m adding a new permanent section to the newsletter called THE PODCASTING TO DO LIST BIT where I’ll post the podcasting to-do list I make for myself every Monday so you can see what I’m working on and what’s next.
And so, without anymore ado…
THE PODCASTING TO DO LIST BIT

I failed to recover the duck, but I did earn a soggy standing ovation and a ceremonial ribbon for theatrical floundering.
