I think you should write (to me) more
Hey, I think you should write more.
Yes, you.
I have too many friends with interesting lives and work and thoughts who don’t share enough. Don’t write for you, write for me! I want to read whatever you write. Send it to me. It could be a blog, a newsletter, or just a random thing you have scribbled. Give me a peek into that brain.
As a side benefit, it’s crazy to think one day my kids can read my writing and get a little bit of understanding of what I care about. I’m not saying they will be impressed or excited, but they can learn more about my own neuroses. You’re hoarding all that knowledge and perspective! Imagine if your parents had written a blog or a newsletter, how interesting that would have been. Possibly. It doesn’t matter if you’re a “good writer” or not, I just want to read it. Send me something. Reply to this — that counts too.
I think one of the great contributions we can make is to have more people write. And write honestly. No viral content. Just a little bit about what you care about.
Of course I’m trying to write more too.
Here’s my latest essay, it’s a pretty long one. If I can help it, I’ll have a few more in the next couple of months.
And since it’s not just about me, here’s a good essay I found yesterday about human connection.
Ok so hit reply and let’s start with something easy - what are you excited about these days?
PS: If you’re interested in giving feedback on my essays, let me know. I usually send them out to a few friends to get their thoughts and I’m happy to widen the circle a bit.
