New Story, Series Incoming; It's the July Nearly Monthly News!

Hello! It’s July and Margaret's Nearly Monthly News has officially hit the big time with triple-digit subscriber numbers, whoo hoo! Welcome newcomers, and thank you everyone for your continued support!

In celebration, I’ll be putting out a bonus newsletter this month with all the gory details on #AMCmageddon and my final wrap-up on the experience. Seeing fifteen movies in a month takes a certain number of words to talk about, and I want to give it the space it deserves. We’ll still hear from the Duolingo Dystopia though. I know my brand.

(And fear not for your inboxes, I’ll be back to my usual nearly monthly schedule in August.)

With that, on to the news!

From my Desk

New short story is coming in two days! “All Belknaps Go Under the Mountain” will be available via The Sunday Morning Transport on July 14th. Sign up for free or use this special link for a 60-day trial offer of the premium version and have my story delivered directly to your inbox! You can also take advantage of the current membership drive to get 25% off an annual subscription.

On the TV front, keep an eye out for season one of Batman: Caped Crusader, coming to Amazon Prime August 1. I worked on season two, so my episodes won't be available yet, but if you love Batman, or noir, I think you’ll dig this one.

What I'm Reading and Watching

My virtual book group has gone from Orlando to The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson. In keeping with the creepy vibe, I picked up A House with Good Bones by T. Kingfisher from Mysterious Galaxy on my last trip to San Diego.

As for the film and TV front? After watching fifteen movies in June, I celebrated by... going right back to the theater in July. Highlights so far are Janet Planet, a small film about an eleven-year-old girl in Western Massachusetts figuring out her relationship with her mother, and A Quiet Place: Day One, a small film about mortality and human isolation hiding inside a giant apocalyptic monster movie.

From the Cutting Room Floor of the Duolingo Dystopia

Worldcon Glasgow is coming up in a little less than a month. Lin has packing advice.

Lin, savvy cardigan-wearing lesbian with an undercut from Duolingo says, "The weather might be rainy in Scotland." in French and English.

Not going to bet against that one.

And That's the Nearly Monthly News!

Comments? Questions? Glasgow restaurant recommendations? Drop me a line! Otherwise, I'll see you for the #AMCmageddon wrap-up!
