Reflection #46 Learning to Let Go

Reflection #46 – Learning to Let Go
A banner hangs in my home.
Asking three questions—
How well did you live.
How well did you love.
How well did you learn to let go.
This last line
falls heavy on my heart.
Time does not linger,
years bring their losses—
people, pets, places once called home,
Everything moves toward parting.
Even dearest companions
turn down other roads.
So, I begin to practice…
I let go of yesterday
and step into the fullness of today.
I let go of raising my children,
trusting their wings against the wind.
I let go of work that once named me,
releasing the need to perform.
I let go of titles, of applause,
of being necessary everywhere.
Moving from place to place,
I loosened my hold so much,
learning not to anchor my happiness
to any single shore.
Perhaps letting go
is the doorway to living fully—
to loving without clutching,
to giving without keeping score.
Letting go is not surrender,
but how we live fully…
making space
for grace.
