Reflection #42. Simple Lessons

This is a gentling season,
a loosening of hurry,
a softening of edges.

A season of simple lessons,
filled with surprise, unadorned moments—
patient teachers.

In these I find
what is richest, sweetest,
most wholly my own.

Old lessons travel with us,
quiet companions from earlier years,
waiting to be remembered.

Release the child within—
be restless for wonder,
awake to delight.

Let life surprise you still…
with its simple lessons.
