Reflection # 28 Two Kinds of Friends
I’ve come to think
there are two kinds of friends.
The first are travelers—
companions on the road.
We share the same route,
the same work over coffee
before paths divide.
As we, with gratitude, travel on.
The second kind—
ah, these are our friends for life.
Years deepen their presence
growing in the soil of goodwill—
wishing the best for the other,
even when apart.
I’ve come to believe that
true friendship, new or old,
is a circle of light—
a trust,
a kindness that endures.
It asks for little,
yet offers much.
It holds space for silence
and joy for return.
It is the quiet knowing
that love remembers—
always.
