Reflection on Cleaning House and Right-Sizing:
Just got rid of a large amount of things at the church that the secretary had inappropriately (and without permission) crammed into a Sunday school classroom. Still, one large pile that is supposed to be removed ASAP. --F

I have been downsizing for much of the year. Slowly, sometimes with a friend. It is not an easy task...lots of emotions and memories and discoveries. --P

Reflections On Volunteering:
My time spent doing Spiritual Direction and on the board of the local senior center. As an introvert, that is about what I can handle. --P

Reflection #36 Transitioning, Regrets, and Acceptance
A very helpful Reflection #36 in relation to transitioning in retirement from a professional life-style of involvement to volunteer/personal. I've attached a paper in relation to my own reasons/thoughts on retirement (far earlier than I had anticipated) that actually date from 2001 (actually rooted in our UMC 'merger/union' of 1968). I have never looked back nor regretted the decision! Take care....always in my heart....Peace, Love, Joy, --D

Yes Tricia.....and for some...the opportunity to simply 'be' without any negative self-criticism. Not only is this a healthy choice for us...but relieves us of expectations regarding family and friends. Smile...and...enjoy! --J

Today I preached on Ephesians 3:14-21. One thought that didn’t make the sermon: Even as our physical bodies weaken or change, God is strengthening, filling our inner being. Thanks be to God. --J

We all look back at our lives and have regrets. We always wanted to open a retreat center but never did, I wanted to play the piano but discovered my left-hand doesn't take directions very well. I started a children's sermon book but forgot to back it up and lightning struck the computer, and it was lost. Regrets will always be a part of life.
Successes don't always reveal themselves for years to come; however, some of my former church members have told me that I had a major impact on their lives. Success is measured in many different ways. During Covid I made over a hundred throw quilts and passed them out free to people, some to veterans, family, friends, and strangers. I prayed that my life made a difference in the world we live in and I hope I continue to make even small differences. --J

Tricia, I remind myself that Jesus, referred to by someone along the way as the “cornerstone” was as designated by that term NEVER at the center but always at the edge. I find that position an attractive one. Stay a bit edgy you two and perhaps we may meet again! --B
