knits 'n crafts

and one zine

Here’s a photo dump of most of the things I made in the last four months that WEREN’T comics!

First, the knits. Gosh, I knitted kind of a lot?

a baby bonnet for a friend with a December baby :)
made for my friend Mia, whose signature look is hats with sprouts on top. Thanks for driving me to visit the alpacas (and buy more of their yarn) every few weeks, Mia!
I love this pattern, okay?! These were made as baby shower gifts for the family I nanny for, whose four-year-old is SO excited to be a big brother
I can *almost* knit this hat from memory now; I knit up this one in a single day when I found out that one of my besties back in PDX just became a mom through an adoption placement of a little bitty newborn <3
…aaaand a cardigan for that same baby (that will fit in like six months). Please note the pockets, for all the baby’s pocket needs.

My housemate Ollie got me this beautiful hand-dyed yarn for my birthday.

I immediately knit a hat with it and now it is my favorite hat

I‘ve been sewing tiny felt mushrooms in very advanced preparation for next year’s Game of Shrooms.

chipped nail polish for scale

Someone left a gift of tiny wooden bird alebrijes on my desk in the Senior Studio so I painted them to look like ill-proportioned puffins, of course.

puffins with the tiniest little beaks, lol

Also, I designed a cute die-cut sticker sheet of puffins! (Printed by Sticker Ninja! We love Sticker Ninja!)

coming to any cons and zine fests I table at in the next nine months!

I can’t take full credit for this next one since it was a collaborative effort between me and the four-year-old I nanny, but lemme just say: I highly recommend tie-dye and a couple of sheets of iron-on letters as a preparing-for-new-baby activity if you’ve got a few extra blank newborn onsies and an eager about-to-be-a-big-brother on your hands.

love the chaotic chicka-chicka-boom-boom vibes, iykyk

I got into making little guys out of polymer clay in the last six weeks. I was really into this stuff when I was like, nine, so this has been a fun throwback craft.

a troll with a very misshapen head, haha
my friend Fern’s cat Anise, made out of polymer clay and acrylic paint. She’s polydactyl! Look at those thumbs!
the 4-year-old I nanny asked to make a homemade snow globe and requested that the figurine inside be “Santa… or a polar bear” so, NATURALLY, I did both.
The finished snow globe! The kid likes to shake it and then watch the glitter settle, and says “snow gwobes aw so we-waxing” omg it’s the cutest thing

I am unable to resist waldorf-inspired seasonal decor, so…

winter solstice crafts: dried orange garland & kite paper window stars

And! Another recipe zine! Full post & free downloadable PDF coming soon :)

Stay cozy!
