For the next concert on the Lift Series we'll be celebrating Piano Day, an event observed around the world which brings together pianists and piano-lovers in celebration of this incredible instrument. Taking place on the 88th day of the year (hehe), the event will feature local and regional pianists of different musical genres, including Emily Pinkerton, Carol Daggs (Jazzage), Spencer Zahn, and myself.
What I'm Listening To
I recently met Montreal-based pianist/composer/singer/violinist (phew) Salomé Perli and immediately felt a kinship, both musical and personal. You know that nervous feeling when you meet someone new and just really like them and want to be their friend.... anywayyy her album Dissonante is just incredible. Do give it a listen.
We hosted Olli Hirvonen in our space (Troy Listening Room) this past weekend and I was just blown away by his band. Sam and I went to school with Olli and his bass player Marty and it was so nice to reconnect. Their new album Kielo is stunning. Check it out immediately.
