Hi folks,

We are thrilled to share that, following the launch three months ago, the Data Sonification Awards received over 80 submissions across all award categories! This incredible response reflects the growing energy and creativity in the field of data sonification. Our expert jurors are now finalizing their evaluations, carefully selecting the most outstanding sonifications in communication, arts, and analysis.

The winners will be announced on March 20, 2025, during Design Research Week at Northeastern University, in Boston. Winning projects will also be permanently featured in the Data Sonification Archive, ensuring lasting recognition and impact. We invite you to explore the programming for that day—several sonification-related activities have been planned, allowing for both in-person and online attendance, including:

• Data, Algorithms, Sound, and Design (Research) session (9 – 11 AM, Raytheon Amphitheater, Northeastern University, Boston and online) – A deep dive into emerging sonification research, from autographic soundscapes to machine listening. Announcement of the awarded projects (10:30 AM).
• Sonification in Ableton Live with Manifest Audio session (3-4:30 PM, Online via Zoom) - In collaboration with Noah Pred and Manifest Audio.
• The Data Sonification Award Concert (5:30 – 6:30 PM, Phillips Auditorium, Center for Astrophysics | Harvard & Smithsonian and online) – A special showcase of awarded entries from the first edition of the Data Sonification Awards in a peculiar setting.
