🔮 A positive future for AI and Coders
Hello Hello!
🤣 source: css-tricks.com
Today I bring to you an event, a bit of history, and a positive future for AI and Coders.
📅 Google I/O is an annual developer conference held by Google in Mountain View, California. "I/O" stands for Input/Output, as well as the slogan "Innovation in the Open".
The event is online, and it will run on May 10th. It is free.
You should be able to find a presentation track that interests you. From mobile, to web dev and AI, you will find a bit of everything on Google I/O.
🗿 I wasn't convinced that I should bring this link to you because most likely you have barely heard of Visual Basic (or VB for friends and family). But this was the language where I had my introduction to the Microsoft programming toolkit back in late 90's. So why not.
If you are so much inclined to read it, notice that tools will come and go. What is brand new today, will be out of fashion tomorrow. Just keep yourself flexible to changes that will inevitably come and affect you.
This article also shows that what some people may call "garbage", might be the "riches" for others. VB was my rich back then.
Community is the future of AI
🤖 Very interesting article written by the CEO of Stack Overflow about the impact of AI in particular for programmers. While we hear a lot about the fact that AI will make developers irrelevant, he predicts that AI will open the doors to an explosion of developers.
In my opinion, this is also scaring as we may see our salaries going down as a consequence of too much supply, but I want to see the bright side: access to more people.
My personal update:
🎓 Last weekend I was focused on wrapping up grading for my students. That is why I didn't show up. The semester is over! Congratulations to my COMP123 students. Enjoy your break.
✈️ It is official. I will be in Brazil for the next 3 months. Departing on Sat May 13th and returning in August. I will be helping my aging mother to relocate. But I will also have a week or two of vacation in July. I will be working normally. It is unsettling to leave the comfort of my work environment, but I have to dance according to the music. Never being away for so long from Canada in 21 years here.
🤝 Two students had the idea to start a discord server to engage the newsletter subscribers here, i.e., YOU. Thank you I.P. and P.P.! I will be looking into it during next week to see if I will have time to do this. I was never very good at building communities. We shall see...
