💵 Salary Negotiation
Hello Hello!
"Me to HR: Your careers page says the company offers 'competitive salary'. What does that mean exactly?
HR: That means your salary will be competing with your bills."

Today I bring to you a career podcast, a developer survey results, and a command-line tool.
Salary Negotiation
💰 This is a great first episode from the podcast put together by my good friend Coco Wu.
During this episode, she discussed with 2 seasoned friends about how to approach salary negotiation when you are getting hired.
No matter if you are a newbie looking for your first job or a seasoned professional, you will get very useful tips on how to approach salary negotiation, which can be nerve-wracking.
Don't leave money on the table. I wish I had listened to this episode a week ago before I have accepted a job offer.✅ If you don't know yet, Stack Overflow is the biggest developer Q&A out there. On an annual basis they survey their user base for insights into technologies, job market and general trends that affect the technology space.
Check out their result for 2023. You will see what is hot and what is not. You will find out about salaties and tech trends. Read through it completely. It can help you to decide what to focus on in case you are not sure.
So many insights! For instance, do you know the most sought-after technology today in the market is Docker?
💻 I'm not afraid of command-line interfaces, but most people like to have a nice UI to interact with. Command line interfaces give you the full range of possibilities offer by applications like git, npm, aws cli and so so many more.
Bash is one of the most popular command-line shells. There are versions to be used on Windows, Mac and Linux.
This article covers the most used Linux based shell commands so that you can use it and impress any recruiter with you "hacking" abilities. Actually, my knowledge and wiliness to work with Linux command line made quite a difference during the technical interview process with the company I was going through.
Personal Updates:
👷 I got the J.O.B.! Finally, after 6 interviews! I'm very happy to be changing careers and becoming a Product Manager. I will share more once I get to know what I will be doing in this new position. Wish me luck. My initial goal is to survive the first month.
🎓 The first week of the new college semester is done. Welcome to my new COMP100 students!
🎀 I have watched the Barbie movie last weekend. Interesting movie. Odd movie. Hard to describe. You should watch it, just to find out what it is all about. Again, difficult to explain.
