✍️ Note taking by hand
Hello Hello!
🤣 source: Martin Cote
Today I bring to you links about procrastination, data structure and how writing by hand can improve your learning.
Why you procrastinate even when it feels bad
🦥 I'm not always about tech. I like productivity as well. This is a quick 5 min video that shows why we procrastinate and what we can do about it.
As we approach the end of the year and make plans for the coming year, avoiding procrastination might be a good new year's resolution.
My personal strategy is to do a bit of the work I don't enjoy but have to do every day. For example, grading students tests can be very repetitive and tedious. If I'm honest I don't enjoy it.
What I do is: I grade 15 students a day. As I have 80 students, I should be done in about a week, which is the deadline to deliver grades. Grading a few a day doesn't feel like a burden and I can keep going.
Have a look at this video and let me know if you got something out of it.📇 Most beginner developers dread the topic of Data Structure. Yes it can be boring and complex at times.
This article has a very easy to follow flow and explains several data structures by providing examples using frontend JavaScript and React. The article comes with the code as well.
If you want to learn some basic data structure types, or if you need a refresher, this can be a good resource.Writing by hand is the best way to learn
📝 This is such a timely topic for me as I just purchased a reMarkable tablet to write digitally. More about that on my personal updates below.
I have been always a fan a note taking by hand, but I always want to be able to save it digitally. That is why I use notepads like Rockebook. I love to gift them to friends too.
This article talks about the benefits of handwriting for creativity and better information retention. Have a look and make some notes, on paper of course 😉.
My personal update:
📓 I bought a reMarkable tablet. This was a reward for me finishing the first chapter of the book. I was not sure if I would enjoy it. But I love it. It is minimalist and feels so good to write on. It feels very close to writing on paper. I'm writing more with it than I would normally do. It has been making me more productive, but I might be kidding myself to convince me it was worth it, who knows.
🎥 I will be watching Avatar today with my younger daughter. I enjoyed the first one so much that I bought the DVD back then, let's see this one.
🏫 End of the semester. Grading 80 final tests this weekend. I cheer for my students and love when they do well. At times I catch some cheating and have to give zeros - I don't enjoy that 😧.

Cheers, hasta la vista and bye!
