🥀 it's not all roses in Tech
Hello Hello!
I'm a very positive person but sometimes we have to discuss things that are not that good. In today's newsletter you will find an article about layoffs in tech.
Here are the 3 things I have selected for you this week:
No Code / Low Code – What is that?
I have selected a video from the TechLead guy (I think he’s funny and obnoxious 🤪) to give you a sense of what this is and what it means for us developers.
Don’t worry, we will not loose our jobs because of “no code” – Coders will still be required for a very long time.
This topic is not new. Discussions about it were already happening 20 years ago and look where we are: We didn’t loose our jobs yet. It's not all roses and rainbows 🌈 in the technology industry. In a post-pandemic world with rising inflation, tech companies are tying their seatbelts and that usually means layoffs.
This is believed to be a rebalancing period and in the long run the industry will keep growing strong.
This article was originally posted at the Toronto Star but I don't think anyone here has a subscription to it, so I linked to the "open" version.Java: 25 years young and ready for another 25
So many of you studied a lot of Java during college and sometimes you might be thinking: “Why are we studying a language that is dying??”.
I’m no Java programmer and I’m not a fan in particular (I got a Java Certification right before coming to Canada 20 years ago, but don’t tell that to anyone 😊) but the market for Java Developers seems to be stronger than ever.
Just because a technology is no longer the flavor of the month, it doesn't mean it is irrelevant.
My personal update:
We had a lot of fun at a friend’s cottage over the weekend, but now I’m paying for my sins: I got COVID 🤒 – Recovering well and should be out of isolation this weekend.
I have published a video about Delegates in C# 👨🏫 .
Cheers, hasta la vista, and bye!
