π¦ Dracula UI
Hello Hello!
π€£ source: Reader's Digest
Today I'm bringing to you an article about a person who loves to help, a spooky tool and a question: "Are we Engineers?".
π This article tells the story about "VonC". Most likely a mix of his real name plus last name. A few weeks ago, him with 4 other members got over the 1 million reputation mark on stackoverflow. This is a HUGE milestone that took 14 years for him to get to. Not that he was motivated by this number, but the community celebrated anyway.
He said that he wanted to learn more about technologies and be of service to people who might not have the same access as he does.
You don't need to be an expert to help others. You become an expert by helping others. I hope this can potentially inspire you a bit as well to maybe think about ways to help. It can change your career.π§β To celebrate Halloween, I thought about bringing this site which has a collection of dark themed UI patterns with color combinations and CSS stylings. It is called Dracula UI.
Not all sites will do well in dark mode, but you may want to explore the possibilities. Is a βSoftware Engineerβ an Engineer?
π This is more of a philosophical question than a practical one. In the end it doesn't matter much, but at least you will have one more conversation topic for social awkward moments. Or maybe you will make those moments even worse π¬.
Check out this article and reply to this email with a "yes" or "no" answer to the question and why you think so.
My personal update:
π My students from Winter/2022 have nominated me for a "Teaching Excellence Award" - I was surprised, humbled and proud! There is a process to go through and the committee at the college decided that I was not continuing in the process. My reward was already having been nominated by my students. What else can I ask for?? Just wanted to thank all students that have participated on that, including Natoya M.!
π I might be writing a book - I'm working on a book proposal today and it should be done in the next 2 weeks. More details in future emails. Thank you A.K. for helping me out with the research for the book proposal. A.K. was a student of mine who likes privacy π.
π I will be carving pumpkins very shortly today with my kids. I will take pictures.
"God grant me the Serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the Courage to change the things I can, and the Wisdom to know the difference"
Cheers, hasta la vista, bye and Happy Halloween π» !
