πΉ The Worst Programmer Ever
Hello Hello!
π€£ source: Scott Adams
Today I bring to you a tech event,Β new psychological trend, and measuring productivity.
TechTO - Toronto's biggest Tech Meetup
π TechTO hosts technology events monthly, where you get to meet and learn from some of Canada's tech founders and leaders.
I used to go every single month. They charge an entrance fee of $30 + HST. I think it is worth for the contacts you can make and the presentations you watch.
You will have a chance to hear from companies that are hiring. If you are not shy, you can use their open mic and promote you as a potential candidate to be hired.
Their next meeting is on Oct 2, 2023 in person in downtown Toronto. Details.π It became such a common place in tech for us to feel that we just don't know enough. We are not good enough because we don't know this tech or that. That someone else knows more and we don't.
I feel it quite often. Mostly now that I'm going through a new job and new career.
This article talks about it, why so many developers feel like that, and what we can do to reduce the stress that comes with it.πΉ How do companies measure who is productive and who is not as a developer? Are we going to count the number of lines of code? The size of the backlog items they worked on. How many hours they stay active on their computers?
This is a true story of the worst measurement criteria (not the worst programmer) to assess how effective someone is at their job.
Personal Updates:
π§ My older daughter just turned 18. We had brunch together and her mom is setting up a surprise party for today. Just spent 6 hours putting together a video recap of her life, with photos and other videos. Hope she likes.
π· The first week on the new job is done. They haven't figured out yet that I have no clue what I'm doing.
π I'm enjoying the new Mac. I feel I'm cheating on Windows.

Cheers, hasta la vista and bye!
