👩 A Tech Profile from OpenAI

Hello Hello!

"Rest in peace, boiling water.
You will be mist."

🤣 source: UPJOKE

Today I bring to you file versioning, a tech profile, and an inspirational book.

  1. Git in 15 min

📂 Git is such a key technology for any developer out there, but I've noticed that so few knows how to use it. I push my students to use it during the courses I teach.

Get started with Git by following this article. It won't give you everything, but it will get you 90% there.

  2. Chat with Mira Murati: CTO @ OpenAI

👷 I like the stories of people in tech to see career possibilities. It helps me to see assess my options as well.

This is a conversation describing the software engineering career in general with the CTO of OpenAI, one of the most disruptive companies of our times.

  3. The War of Art: A brief highlight

📖 This book came out in 2002. I haven't read it yet, but it is on my "to-read" list. This is a short summary put together by psychologist Nick Wignall (never heard of him? Neither have I!)

My takeaway: To rip the rewards you must put in the work. So obvious, but lately I feel I want to ensure the rewards are guaranteed before I'm willing to put the work.

My personal updates:

  • 👧 My daughter just got her first job at 17. She is excited to make some money on her own. I'm sure she is already spending what she didn't make yet. I try to teacher her better than that though.

  • 🦸 We went to FanExpo yesterday. So crowded. Crazy cosplays. Lots of famous peeps, like the Karate-kid, Daredevil, and cast of the Scream movie. I go because of my kids. Just too exhausting. But had a great time with both my girls.

  • 👷 Things are still going slowly with the interview process. I had the 4th conversation last Monday, but now it has been a week without communication. What would you do in my position? Reach out to them? Say what? I have some ideas, but would love to hear your thoughts.

Cheers, hasta la vista and bye!
