What i'm on this month (or come and dance, nerd out, whatever)

Techno fundraiser, Hole Vision and Panel. Pull tf up!

Hey! This is a short email to let you know a few things that are happening a party this thursday, Hole Vision (our residency with Crystal Peñalosa at The lot Radio) and a Panel at the end of this month for the art show Lower Intestine.

SANCTUARY SOUNDS at Trans Pecos

I will start promoting the party I’m throwing tomorrow at Trans Pecos in support of Angelica and Esteban, two very loved friend from my immigrant close community.

This party has come as an inter-scene solidarity effort to show up directly as ICE escalates their presence in this settler project we call America. It has been an effort to support them directly; no non-profits behind, no clout bullshit.

SANCTUARY SOUNDS will be headlined by Via App, who has been super down since day one and I’m really honored to host (their sets always surprise me, and I find them sexy, bouncy, aggresive and experimental), my favorite nyc dominican himbo and prince of hardcore techno Hardkore, who’s music is sexy and intense, Salem X fellow chilean immigrant dj who’s very talented and plays sexy and sophisticated tunes and Sepulchra, also fellow immigrant dj who has made a name by themselve playing faster and trans-border tunes. Warmed up by me, bassy, break beaty, weird.

There’s also gonna be a little market with herbalism, native medicine, prints, zines… sadly no tattoos lol (Maleek informed me that because of the department of health or something like that they said no tattoos!).

From 11-Late at Trans Pecos, would mean the world to me to see you there.

Flyer of course by the one and only Coco aka @nymphostar (we love you Coco!)

Ticket link is here (all the $$ goes directly for the homies).

Resident Advisor link (hate RA but will help us promote if you click interested)

Can’t come? Still would like to help/chip in? This is the gofundmelink. And will help a lot if you would share this event with friends.

Come dance, let yourself be moved by heavy music, shake off the violence of the settler project.

Hole Vision

After two months of calendar nightmare, I am back to Hole Vision this thursday at 6pm. B2b with my goth bestie Crystal Peñalosa. I can’t tell you enought how important for my creative spirit Hole Vision is! Just having each month the space to mix music I havent practiced on, made by trans, non binary, and gender non conforming people!

Mixing keeps me inspired, but also experience in the booth of the lot radio the large, weird spectrum of music trans people be making, really blews my mind.

If you’ve been making music and you’d like me to play it tomorrow, tonight is the last chance to send it.

Shoot me an email at

[email protected]

send your music, your bandcamp links, your soundcloud, etc! Will love to hear it.

And if you wanna tune in get in thelotradio.com tomorrow Thursday 8/6 at 6PM for all the hole of HOLE VISION.

Panel for Lower Instestine

Last but not least I’m curating a panel for Lower Intestine, the last curation for ABC NO RIO in exile by my bestie ever Arthur K.

The city can be conceived of as a labyrinth – an elaborate system of caves – the belly of the beast. The label “emerging artists” suggests discovery – coming up from the underground into the harsh sun of recognition. But what of the interior and mucking around in it? The dark and damp and warmth, the tunnels, the standing water, the bile, the circuitry, the coils of innards doubling back? And while we’re at it, what about all the things you know are true but can’t explain? 13 subterranean artists examine the guts and hidden mechanisms churning beneath the surface world.

I’m super stoked about this panel, because it fits many questions and ideas that have been coming up in my artistic, creative and community practices over my years here in NYC.

What does it mean to be visible?

What does it mean to be an emergent artist?

To be discovered?

What does the underground has as posibilities that escape the eye?

The underground is a posibility for escaping, is it borderless?

And a large etc.

I’m pleased to have back my dear friend and culture genius Gavilán Rayna Rusoom (Black Meteoric Star, Voluminous Arts), my always inspiring culture bestie Geng PTP and Brandon English (Blackberry Knuckleduster) (non binary icon who’s lived and resisted through many undergrounds) to come and sit and talk, nerd out and go down and why not… shit on the politics of visibility, legibility and discover.

This Will be the last of the event of this curation, but check the program, cuz there’s gonna be really good poetry readings and Ani’s and Gigi’s performance of the map of new york city will be exposed there too. Plus all the visual art so many homies have in the gallery.

From this more to come.

When?

Friday 21 8pm

Where?

128 Rivington Street, NYC baby.

Shout out to Arthur and all the friends who are part of this <3

That’s all for now, will nerd out about music very soon. I wanna write about these kids who have a jungle zine that literally are all that’s good in regards to culture… but that for next time.

Pull up tomorrow to the party!

Much much love

R.
