Pre-orders open for "Dear Daughter" zine on Kickstarter

Hi! Welcome to new subscribers from recent zine fests in SF and SD. And hello to anyone who’s been around since the beginning of my posting “dear daughter” letters on social media before we started having to detox from social media! 👀

Pre-orders now open for “Dear Daughter” zine! ✨

Pre-order copies now through 11/17 on Kickstarter!

Today’s big announcement is that I’m running a Kickstarter to raise funds to reprint “Dear Daughter”, one of my more personal zine projects. This project is near and dear to my tender achy powerfully-still-beating heart. It started off as a 30-day letterwriting challenging in 2016, pairing old photos of my mom alongside handwritten messages by me, for me, for them, through them, by all of us?…It is one of the projects that helped me start to embody and understand that time and love are non-linear — even beyond death. (Other times I’ve written about non-linear love-time: at Wandering Grace, and through Dear Beloved.)

This project has begat other message exchanges, creative workshops, and digital altars.

I ran a letter exchange at many zine fests over the years, where participants could “write a note, take a note.” Some of my faves are collected into a mini-zine that is part of the Letterwriting Add-On Bundle, available as part of the Kickstarter.
A “Dear Daughter” inspired workshop I did at a local college. One of the rewards of the Kickstarter is a speculative intergenerational letterwriting online workshop to be hosted in January 2026. Join us?!

The original zine version of Dear Daughter has been in and out of print over the years depending on how (overly) protective I am feeling of these archives. I also rarely sell this zine online; in the past, it has only been available in-person at Zine Fests or through consignment at local shops around California or the PNW — and more often than not sold out altogether.

But/and this project has also been one of the more connective ones to share over the years. I am honored every single time I hear a story of how this zine and these messages have made their way into other people’s hearts and family weaves.

“They are afraid of your true power.”

The zine is available for pre-order now through November 17 via Kickstarter. I’ll mail out copies in February 2026 to anywhere in the United States. I just realized it’s the: ten year anniversary of the project! ☺️

Shipping will be charged separately closer to shipdate. (Sorry to my friends in other countries; international shipping and tariffs and customs forms are too daunting for me to consider as a solo zinester right now. If the campaign does really well, I’ll offer copies in my online shop in the future.)

Praying that this zine finds the right people, and that the right people find it, and praying that it elides the notice of any who would consume or exoticize us. Please help spread the word if this project has meant something to you in the past. Looking forward to getting this zine out into more hands and hearts.

Thank you for your time and attention. 💖 I will probably be in your inbox a few more times during the duration of this Kickstarter campaign. 💌

Other Wayward Things

🖤 I am (slowingly) working on another Wandering Grace essay about wildfires, post-Eaton-Fires. Can you believe that was this year?? I am heartened to see these photo updates from the area: flora and fauna in the area where trails are closed to humans for the time being during recovery.

💰 I am working on another “Living the Questions” post on Patreon about paywalls and sliding scales.

🎧 Albert and I recorded a Foment podcast about the importance of play in our now-times — and what keeps us from being able to play.

📚 If you want any of my zines in time for the holidays, order from my online shop by the end of November. If you don’t abide by the urgency of the holidays season, the zine bundles in the “Dear Daughter” Kickstarter are the way to go! (I might close the shop down for the month of December because holiday shipping be bananas.)

Take good care,
Christina
