Meditation reading for Friday November 15, 2024
GIFTS FROM OUR HIGHER POWER —
We never know the worth of water till the well is dry. Every moment that passes us by unnoticed is a lost gift. The stranger’s smile to acknowledge us, the friend’s hug to comfort us, the rainbow’s brilliance just beyond the bend in the road — these are all gifts from our Creator, meant to bless and connect us to one another and the world. These gifts enhance our growth and nourish our spirit.
It’s easy to wear blinders. Self-absorption, which is all too familiar to many of us, keeps us in a quagmire that stifles us. We cannot give or receive the gifts of our Creator when we’re self-absorbed. The connection between our companions and us is severed each time we become self-centered. Restoring that connection is as simple as shifting our attention to someone in need.
Today I will keep my eyes open for the gifts from God that awaits us.
