GRATITUDE —
We never know the worth of water till the well is dry. Every moment that passes us by unnoticed is a lost gift: the stranger’s smile; a friend’s hug; the rainbow’s brilliance just beyond the bend in the road. These are all gifts from our Creator, meant to bless and connect us to one another and to the world. These gifts enhance our growth and nourish our spirit.
It’s easy to wear blinders. Self-absorption, all too familiar to many of us, keeps us in a quagmire that stifles us. We cannot give or receive the gifts of our Creator when we’re self-absorbed. The connection between us and our companions is severed each time we become self-centered. Restoring that connection is as simple as shifting our attention to someone in need.
Today, I will pay attention to the gifts that await.
