City boosters and planners wanted to turn every city into a homogenized free floating playground of experiences that are fundamentally the same. Locality becomes background color, every urban center is filled with the stuff of lyrics of La Vie Boheme from rent. Local breweries, yoga studios, wine and cheese shops. A creative class that doubles as uber shoppers and drivers. Actual culture makers stomped out.
