The Snoot Letter - LA Brands
The Snoot Letter
Issue #21 – July 15, 2020
Hello friends, it’s a short one today because I’m swamped with secret work on secret projects!
Yesterday I took an online survey looking for my thoughts and suggestions on the new Clippers arena being built in Inglewood. My primary suggestion was that they drop Chick-fil-A as a sponsor. The Ballmer-owned Clippers are such a progressive organization, and it’s a shame to have that undermined by the constant in-game promotions of an organization like Chick-fil-A.
One of the questions on the survey was about what “brands” I associate with Los Angeles, and it’s something I had a hard time answering. At this point, I’ve lived in Los Angeles for most of my life. I’m not an American, but I do consider myself an Angeleno. That said, I do have a hard time specifying brands as being specifically LA. In the end, I suggested Nipsey Hussle, Ed Ruscha, and Kogi Tacos. I don’t know if they all count as brands, but they capture Los Angeles for me. And I’d gladly eat Kogi Tacos at the Nipsey Hussle arena while the Clippers play on an Ed Ruscha illustrated court.
