Issue #22 – July 22, 2020
Last week, we shot the final two scenes for our movie One Night In Miami. In Los Angeles. During the pandemic.
It was one of the hardest and most stressful shoots of my career as a film producer, but it was wonderful to see our cast and crew coming together under these bizarre conditions to make art following all of the social distancing and health protections needed to work during a pandemic.
That said, I am relieved that I didn't have to shoot more than a couple days right now. It will be hard to figure out how to make a full movie or TV show in the US until there is either a vaccine or a governmental and societal response that drastically reduces the infection rate. This will be especially true for any independent production that doesn't have the support infrastructure and resources of a major studio or streamer.
