Writing

Indiegames

For followers and supporters alike, my free post about Steam Next Fest demos is up on ko-fi here, narrowing down the selection to ten that I think you may want to keep on your radar. If you happen to be reading this past the conclusion of Next Fest, don’t forget that you can wishlist the games you have interest in!

Coming up this month I’ll be doing quick write ups of the DICE Awards from February and my review of Beyond the Bet DLC for A Date with Death. Depending on timing, I may also be able to do a round up of games I’m looking forward to from the BAFTA Games nominations that should be announced on March 4th.

Fiction

It’s been a while since I’ve added a fiction update. My brain has been full of science fiction and cyberpunk ideas lately so I’m working through two stories right now. I have no idea if they’re just going to stay short stories or if I want to turn them into novels but it’s refreshing that this part of my brain reactivated! I’m guessing that I was inspired by all of the media within those genres recently as I tend to have new ideas when spurred on by my environment. Maybe that’s why writers do retreats? Something for me to think about…

Video

Streaming

My first playthrough of Detroit: Become Human continues this month and I definitely have had my share of philosophical discussions so far on stream. Not that I’m in a rush as I’m really enjoying my playthrough, but I’m hoping we wrap it up soon so we can move onto Persona 5 Royal!

I’ll also be trying to make it to more Saturday surprise streams so we can continue my playthrough of FFVIII Remastered. I’m expecting that I’ll need to put on cheats every now and then because the battle system is such a headache.

Long Form

In case you missed it, I had a couple videos for early coverage of Afterlove EP and Wanderstop! The January Windows update completely messed up my audio so there were a few glitches scattered throughout but I’ve since found a workaround which will hopefully eliminate those on Youtube and Twitch going forward.

Personal

Currently Playing

I haven’t been doing much leisure gaming lately but for a while I was returning to old favorites like Critter Cafe and Dave the Diver just to get some of that easy access management-game rush. Once Assassin’s Creed: Shadows releases then I imagine I’ll be spending a bit of time watching my partner run through gameplay too.

IRL

I’ll be going for sourdough loaf number three this month, as well as monitoring progress on my latest kimchi batch. I guess the incoming time of Spring is making me want to ferment all the things? Or maybe just growing things is on the table because I’m also reminded that I need to replace the soil on my potted plants so they’re ready to go for the incoming warmer weather…

I had a ton of fun going to our local car show back in February, and very quickly had to do a rewatch of Fast Five (one of my favorite Fast and the Furious movies). Also, speaking of movies and shows, I have been really happy to have Severance back and quite enjoyed The Gorge too, in spite of the critics out there. I’m still trying to make up my mind about whether the latest White Lotus season is going to resolve any of the issues presented from the second season. The first few episodes haven’t been very strong, but I’m ever the patient viewer.

Japanese lessons are still going well and I’m able to talk about things I like, invite folks out to various activities, and talk about my wishes. At this point I also have covered all of Hiragana and Katakana, but I’m still working on true memorization. Thanks as always to everyone who has been supporting me through ko-fi or Twitch subscriptions/bits to make this happen! Becoming a polyglot is a big dream of mine and you’re helping me get there <3

Picture of the Month

Even if you don’t think Spring is upon us, the local flora may beg to differ. It’s always such a treat to see the various blooming trees come to life!
