February Legendary 2024

Writing

Indiegames

My personal ranking of the games I finished on Twitch in 2023 is now posted here for supporters and soft thoughts about End of Lines are available for free here. Next up for Ko-fi supporters will be a quick review of 2064: Read Only Memories, which I finished last month off-stream and gave me warm feelings about the Neo-SF setting.

Board Games

Next in queue for my Board Game Quest reviews is a jigsaw puzzle mystery game, totaling 1000 pieces. I've been working on it almost nightly with my partner and sometimes it can feel like such a daunting task. Like any another big jigsaw puzzle project it just takes finding similar patterns and getting sections of the larger image done so you're not overwhelmed.

Streaming

I had a great time with Mini Motorways and Inkulinati last month, and Roadwarden has been a nice break from the big tactics games so far. It's taking a bit longer than I scheduled for and with the weeklong strike for Palestine we're even farther away from the finish line. I'll have to push Pikuniku closer to Wednesday, February 14th with Mass Effect Legendary following shortly after. Whatever the impact on my schedule I will always take opportunities to bring more light into the world so it may be likely that this happens again this month. I never regret participating in these efforts.

Long Form

My next recorded playthrough will be an early look at WitchHand by Jon Nielsen, who has made games I've enjoyed in the past. This game looks a lot like Stacklands so I'm looking forward to it! Its release date is February 7th, if you're interested in keeping an eye on it.

Short Form

Outside of some goofy moments trying to look up the meaning of some words, Roadwarden is not the best fit for Tiktok so this is on hold for now.

Personal

Currently Playing

I'm still obsessed with Mini Motorways at the moment, and am currently trying to get 1k trips in each city. There's something about the system in this game that makes me simultaneously frustrated and calm. The next time I get a chance where I'm not multitasking I'll need to play Goodbye Volcano High for my next Ko-fi post, and perhaps also finish Coffee Talk 2 which we started on stream but fell off the schedule.

IRL

My foodie photo wrap up of 2023 is now live on Ko-fi for supporters, which features the lovely choker I purchased from Nol Collective. Not food related but last month I found out I'm going to be an aunt of sorts (my cousin is having a baby this year), which I'm still trying to process. I know that everyone's life unfolds in different ways but I would have never thought that a younger cousin would be full speed ahead on that area of life so soon.

Finding comfortable everyday shoes is a constant mission for me and I recently saved up to buy a pair of allbirds. Much to my surprise they're not overhyped at all, and they're actually really comfortable! This is one of the few times that the majority opinion held up for me.

I mentioned this on stream last month and so far the new nighttime medication to help with my night terrors seems to be working. I'm waking up and not noticing that I had an anxious sweat in my sleep or that I was thrashing about. I'm so thankful for this and hoping it continues.

Work provided me with a license to Datacamp and I've been having a good time learning Python for data analysis work. I'm content with the type of work I do but with the layoffs and AI popping up everywhere I want to be prepared for the worst. Having flexible options and a wide range of skills can help me pivot if the worst happens.

I made a vision board this year as my spiritual leader encouraged me to start really focusing on what I want and making it happen. A lot of the last few years have been spent just letting time slip by but I'm taking back my power in a big way going forward.

Picture of the Month

One of my family members is a fiber artist and gifted me a cute hat for my plushies. I figured that my penguin was the best fit for this one!

Happy penguin plushie wearing a crochet red and white pom pom hat.

Feel free to reply directly to this email to let me know your thoughts, or perhaps any content that you'd like to see or questions you might have. Otherwise, sending you all my chilly thoughts for the month and I look forward to writing to you in March!
