June 2026

A short newsletter this month! We’re nearing the end of Summer Reading Club at work and I’m feeling the exhaustion levels creeping up and up. At least the garden is beautiful and the cats are cute!

Currently

Reading: Just finished The Wild Robot, now about to start rereading Witch Week by Diana Wynne Jones.

Listening to: Path of Totality by The Montvales; A Day for the Hunter, A Day for the Prey by Leyla McCalla.

Knitting: attempting to freestyle a vest for myself; we’ll see how it goes once I get to the part that requires an actual pattern!

Cooking: lots of low cooking & low effort recipes as a heatwave descends upon us! Salads and crockpot recipes are the name of the game.

As I mentioned last month, I’ve started a blog focusing on diabetes education, resources, and personal reflections. So far, I’ve posted:

  • Ideas and tips for using summer herbs

  • A summer Mediterranean meal plan

  • A June reflection

  • A cookbook review

I have a monthly recipe recap coming up this evening. You can now subscribe to get new posts sent to you, or follow the Bluesky account!

Hopefully next month I’ll be a little less scattered, but for now I’m wishing everyone a beautiful summer and cool days.

Maureen
