Tanzania 🇹🇿 Natural
Hello Sideyard Friends,
This week’s coffee is from the Songwe region of Tanzania. It’s a natural process coffee, but the effect of the processing is subtle. There’s no winey undertones or fermented fruit here. Rather, the dominant notes are brown sugar and black tea, with some subtle strawberry and orange notes if you take a big whiff or noisy slurp.
The origin track for the week John Ondolo’s Siri Ya Vijana (The Secret of Youth). Recorded in the 1960’s and reminiscent of early Dylan, Ondolo incorporates Kenyan rhythms and American blues imports.
On tap for May: Kenya, Rwanda, Ethiopia.
Cheers,
Ryan
