Sideyard Notes: West Java 🇮🇩 Wet Process
Hello Sideyard Friends,
This week's roast is a wet process coffee from West Java. It's a clean tasting cup (especially compared to many Indonesian coffees!), with flavors that include brown sugar, tootsie roll, and black tea with a spritz of lemon.
I know Tootsie Roll is pretty specific, but not only does it do a great job of describing the opaque, chewy, cocoa vibe, it also lets me recall that time when I was on a grade school field trip to watch a taping of Bozo (yes, that Bozo!) and got tapped to participate in a couple games on air. The VHS recording is long gone, but I'll never forget the poster tube-sized tootsie roll piggy bank *full* of tootsie rolls they gave me for winning a game that involved hammering nails into a 2 x 4. Ha! Â
The origin track recommendation for the week is Sometimes by Indonesian rapper/producer/actor Rich Brian. Super catchy and danceable. The link is to a non-explicit version of the track, but still maybe not kid appropriate.Â
We have a couple extras on hand from last week's Peru and a couple of this week's Java as well.Â
Cheers,
Ryan
p.s. We have one leftover 12oz bag from our delivery loop-if we somehow missed your porch just say the word and we'll get it to you asap! Â
